If you have a garbage disposal (garberator), make sure to use cold water when you run it. Warm water doesn’t dissolve grease very well and can leave a slimy residue build up inside the pipes. Cold water washes the grease down the drain and out into the sewer system.
But be careful, this is important…
Don’t use a garbage disposal if you are on a septic system. It will literally destroy your system. It’s much cheaper to throw your leftover food into the garbage can then have to replace an entire septic system, which can cost a small fortune.
Better yet, why not compost your waste. Your plants will love it!
