Sweet New Product – CoCoa LeafGreens
I was never a big fan of sweets, up until about ten years ago. My father developed diabetes when I was a young girl so I basically grew up on a “diabetics diet”. I remember my high school years when my friends would be snacking on chips, pop, and candy bars and there I was eating fruit and vegetables, and drinking either water, juice, or milk.
I didn’t experience all the teenage acne, zits, and other skin disorders many of my friends encountered, and I have always contributed my healthy teenage diet to my beautiful skin.
Fast track to the twenty-first century and I seem to have developed the same sweet tooth as many other North Americans. For someone who has always struggled with her weight, having a sweet tooth is not a good thing.
When I received an email from AIM Canada about this new and exciting product called CoCoa LeafGreens I was thrilled to learn there may finally be a sweet new product available for us ‘chocolate addicts’ that contained no fat or sugar and was actually good for us! I placed an order right away and I have to tell you, I am absolutely thrilled with CoCoa LeafGreens.
If you haven’t ordered or tried this sweet new product, I can’t urge you enough to give it a try. It’s delicious!
I have been mixing my CoCoa LeafGreens with unsweetened almond milk and drinking it with my lunch, and also later on in the day if I’m craving chocolate. My goal is to replace the not-so-healthy chocolate with this amazing new product.
Now if you’re not sure what CoCoa LeafGreens is, it’s a combination of three cocoa powders and greens from five different plant sources. It’s LeafGreens with a chocolate twist!
Sweet New Product
CoCoa LeafGreens contains a three-part mixture of cocoa powders – organic cacao powder, organic cocoa powder, and alkalized cocoa.*
Organic cacao powder comes from cacao beans and retains an unadulterated cocoa flavour, natural antioxidants, and fiber found in the original bean. Organic cocoa powder and alkalized cocoa (also known as Dutch cocoa) are obtained through a hydraulic pressing of cocoa mass whereby cocoa butter is removed from the bean.*
Cocoa contains an abundance of antioxidants and flavonoids; over 700 vital compounds have been discovered in cocoa. These compounds contribute to cocoa’s support of bone health, its benefits for the cardiovascular system, and its effect on energy. Harvard researchers found that the flavonoids in cocoa may prevent heart disease, and several studies have supported cocoa’s positive effect on blood pressure and cholesterol.*
In addition to the natural goodness of cocoa, CoCoa LeafGreens contains four leaf juice powders – spinach, field pea, faba bean, and barley – as well as broccoli sprout powder.
Spinach leaf is rich in nutrients, including many essential vitamins, minerals, and potent antioxidants such as lutein. Research shows that lutein may prevent age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Among its many documented health benefits, spinach leaf may also aid in curbing anemia, constipation, insomnia, obesity, high blood pressure, bronchitis, and indigestion.*
Faba bean leaf provides an abundant source of flavonoids, the plant pigments partly responsible for the colour of many fruits and vegetables. Quercetin is a flavonoid that is naturally found in faba bean, field pea, spinach leaves, and broccoli sprouts. Recent studies have shown that quercetin inhibits the production and release of histamine and other allergic and inflammatory substances. Quercetin can inhibit the inflammation in joints, provide arthritis relief, inhibit the aggregation of platelets (abnormal clotting), and help improve circulation.*
Field pea leaf contains kaempferol, a flavonoid that inhibits the oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol and the formation of platelet clusters in the blood, providing benefits for those with arteriosclerosis. Kaempferol also plays a role in regulating the blood’s water-sodium/glucose balance and kidney cell function, which can be problematic in diabetics.*
Barley leaf provides the highest concentration of nutrients when compared to all of the green grasses. Barley grass contributes to the high vitamin K and chlorophyll in CoCoa LeafGreens. Vitamin K is essential to the body’s utilization of calcium for healthy bone density and to the healthy formation of blood clots to heal wounds. New research indicates that vitamin K may also help prevent the calcification of arteries and regulate blood sugar. Chlorophyll protects the body from radiation, carcinogens, and DNA damage and helps the body heal wounds, improve regularity, and control odour.*
Broccoli sprouts contain the highest concentration of sulforaphane of the cruciferous vegetables. Sulforaphane is a phytonutrient that may lower inflammatory response and improve cardiovascular health. A 2004 study found that broccoli sprouts decreased stress in both cardiovascular and kidney tissues in animals. A study published in 2009 found that oral consumption of sulforaphane reduced inflammation in human airways by increasing naturally-occurring enzymes in the body.*
This sweet new product has a delicious, triple-chocolate taste, is a natural source of stimulant-free energy, and provides a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. Did I mention it contains zero grams of sugar and fat? Sweet!
Please note: CoCoa LeafGreens is a whole-food concentrate that will be beneficial to most people. However, consult a health care practitioner before use if you are pregnant, nursing, sensitive to iron or vitamin K, have severe medical problems, or are on a restricted diet (especially in regard to green foods).*
